Prodigy, Martin Bookspan
First-prize winner of England's International
Performance Competition, Jan Vinci is a dedicated chamber
musician who has appeared across the United States and Europe,
commissioning and recording many new works.
Jan has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully
Hall, Caramoor, The Kitchen, Merryall Center for the Arts,
Lake Placid Center for the Arts, the International Computer
Music Conference in The Hague, and the Chamber Music of the
East Festival. Her ensembles have commissioned more than 20
works, and she has recorded Five Premieres: Chamber Works With
Guitar with TRITONIS (a flute, guitar, and cello trio) for
Albany Records.
Currently Senior Artist-in-Residence at Skidmore
College and director of the Skidmore Summer Flute Institute,
Jan has served on the faculties of Queens College and Hofstra
University, and was president of the New York Flute Club. She
often teaches master classes while on tour, and has performed
in concert series and festivals at Stanford University, Ithaca
College, Crane, the University of West Florida, the University
of Central Oklahoma, and in return engagements at her own alma
maters.
Jan holds a DMA from The Juilliard School,
an MM from The Cleveland Institute of Music, and a BM from
Bowling Green State University. She studied with Julius Baker,
Samuel Baron, Maurice Sharp, Judith Bentley and Martha Aarons.
