Frank Cassara

Frank Cassara has premiered countless works with as many diverse groups. He has performed around the globe as a member of the Philip Glass Ensemble, Steve Reich and Musicians, New Music Consort/PULSE Percussion Ensemble and the Newband/Harry Partch Ensemble, and performs regularly with North/South Consonance, Percussia and Music from China. Principal percussionist of the Riverside Symphony, Frank Cassara has played for Broadway shows “Lion King” and “Phantom” among others and can be heard on over 25 recordings and film scores, as well as his own recordings: “Apparition” featuring his compositions for jazz quartet and “Pathways” performing the music of Reich, Glass and Adams. An avid player of the African gyil, he heads the percussion departments at Brooklyn College and Vassar College.
